Using the Provided .CMD Files

DeskMan/2 is provided with a collection of .CMD files that you can use to apply these functions to objects and their settings. Each .CMD file is a complete REXX program, and is documented internally regarding usage and syntax.

DevTech recommends that you read this documentation and the documentation within the .CMD file before using each of these functions. This chapter will only address using the PERF*.CMD files provided with DeskMan/2.

To use the PERF*.CMD files, open an OS/2 command line window, go to the folder containing the files, and type in the file names with their parameters. Some general rules regarding entering parameters when using the .CMD files:

• Include object and folder titles within double quotation marks ( "title" ).
• Include object ID's within double quotation marks and angle brackets ( "<ID>" ). Object ID's are case-sensitive.
• Use the ALL argument in place of an object or folder name to select all the objects located in the folder and the folder itself. The ALL argument cannot be used simultaneously with the ANYWHERE argument.
• Use the ANYWHERE argument for an object's location to search the entire Desktop (top-down). The first object found will be used. The ANYWHERE argument cannot be used simultaneously with the ALL argument.
