Cannot Find a Word in a Document

If you enter a query word that you know is present in a document, but that document is not found by the applet, please consult the following checklist:

• Is the document in the index? If the Index View is enabled, this can be easily verified by finding the document in the sorted list.
• If you look at the source (i.e. raw text) for the document, is the word part of the normal text stream? SiteSurfer Builder will not index words that are inside HTML tags or JavaScript scripts, or within HTML comments.
• Is the word separated from other words in the document by white space (e.g., spaces, tabs, new lines)? If not, SiteSurfer cannot differentiate this word from its neigboring characters. Sometimes special characters like numbers and the '/' or '_' characters are treated as parts-of-words, rather than ignored. These settings may be modified in SiteSurfer Builder using the Characters options page.
