Use this method if you prefer to install all the DeskMan/2 components quickly and simply, exercising few options. If you instead prefer to install only parts of DeskMan/2, or if you wish to install DeskMan/2's various programs and files in diverse locations, then you should proceed to this section.
The DeskMan/2 Installation Tool will propose to install the DeskMan/2 programs and supporting data files in a new directory it will create called DEVTECH on either your boot drive or the drive you may have selected using the Default Drive menu. You can specify other drives and paths for the programs and for the data files in this dialog window. If you are connected to a file server and wish to store the data files on the server, be sure you are logged on to the server and include the full path specification in the directory name. Change these values now if you wish to install these files in other locations.
Direct your attention to the DM/2 WPS Image Facility radio buttons. The Configuration Image Facility can save an image of your desktop automatically before installing any programs. This is useful if you find it necessary to later return your system to its initial condition (as if DeskMan/2 had never been installed). DevTech recommends that you enable this facility. Be sure the radio button labeled Yes is selected.
If you enable the Save before install option, the DeskMan/2 Installation Tool will perform a limited backup during the installation process, storing the Workplace Shell information that is located on your boot drive only. If you have stored objects on drives other than your boot drive, the Installation Tool will not save these at this time.
